Ball State University football fan Michael DeAngelis, 25, pleaded guilty Thursday to punching an 18-year-old woman at a tailgate party in March.
DeAngelise was also charged with misdemeanor domestic violence.
The victim suffered a bruised eye and suffered cuts to her lip.
The alleged victim told police DeAngelises face had been red and swollen.
DeAngelo also told police he had a blood-alcohol content of 0.08 percent.
Deangelis was also arrested for violating his probation in the case.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court declined to hear his case in November.
Prosecutors in Madison declined to pursue charges against DeAngelias mother in the attack, saying the case was an “internal matter.”
“It’s really not a public issue,” said Assistant District Attorney Robert Noguchi.
“I think there is enough of a case that I think the district attorney would make a reasonable decision based on the evidence that we have and what’s known at this point.”
DeAngelism father, Mark DeAngel, said he is satisfied with the decision.
“We have nothing to hide,” he said.
“It was a very violent and inappropriate incident and I think I have the utmost respect for the court.
I feel vindicated by the decision.”
The Wisconsin Department of Justice declined to comment.
DeMarco was the son of the late Jerry DeMarco, who was a coach at Wisconsin.
DeMarcus DeMarco said in an interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he and his family had no involvement in the alleged incident.
He also said his family was not aware of the alleged assault until it became public.
DeAnthony DeMarco has been charged with a misdemeanor.
He will be sentenced Dec. 17.
The Journal Sentinel reported that DeMarco’s mother, who he did not identify, told police that DeAngelising was angry because DeMarco didn’t attend the tailgate after the Badgers lost to Michigan in the Big Ten title game.
The mother said DeMarco hit her because he wasn’t at the tailgating, the newspaper reported.
DeDeMarco is the son the former Badgers quarterback, Troy Smith, died of a drug overdose in 2015.
Smith was convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend and then himself.
