The Aggies, No. 1 seed in the SEC East, host No. 3 Auburn in a first-round game on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in College Station.
The game will be televised nationally on ESPN.
The first-year Aggies coach said his team will be focused on winning the championship, and he expects to win it.
“I’m really excited about being the next one that’s going to lead us into the championship,” Sumlin told the Houston Chronicle.
“I’m definitely excited for the opportunity to do that.”
Texas A & M is 1-0 this season and has a win over Alabama and an overtime win over LSU.
It is 1,500 points behind Alabama for the No. 2 spot in the West and 830 points behind LSU for the top spot in College Football Playoff standings.
The SEC West, which includes Texas A& M, has won three of its last four games and will play host to Georgia on Saturday.

In the last three seasons, the Aggies have won at least 12 games in four of the last five seasons.
Sumlin has a team that won a national title in 2017 and finished with the No., 5 overall seed in 2019.
